TiE Oregon angels’ 2025 Year in Review

Investing in Founders. Building Community. Strengthening Oregon’s Innovation Economy.

As we reflect on the past year, one theme stands out clearly: when experienced founders and investors show up with intention, the entire ecosystem benefits. In 2025, TiE Oregon deepened its impact across the state by deploying capital, expanding access to investors, and creating meaningful connections for entrepreneurs at every stage.

From early-stage investments to pitch competitions, investor education, and industry-focused conversations around emerging technologies like AI, our community continued to show what’s possible when mentorship, capital, and collaboration come together.

Capital Deployed: Investing Where It Matters

In 2025, TiE Oregon Charter Members along with Business Oregon collectively invested approximately *$400,000 into 11 early-stage startups, supporting founders across a range of high-growth sectors:

Invested Startups in alphabetical order:

  1. BioTesserae — Pets/Healthcare Innovation

  2. Canopii — CleanTech

  3. CleanHaus — SaaS

  4. EndoShunt - MedTech

  5. Haulvana - SaaS

  6. Kinometrix - MedTech

  7. Mickelberry Gardens - Consumer Products

  8. Sez Us - Social Media / Online Moderation Tech

  9. StrateSea - AI Machine Learning

  10. Vivifi Medical - MedTech

  11. Yak - FinTech

These investments reflect our commitment to backing traded-sector, technology, and tech-enabled companies, while also expanding access to capital for underrepresented founders across Oregon and the broader Pacific Northwest.

Beyond dollars deployed, our members contribute something equally valuable: experience, guidance, and long-term support.

Creating Access: Events That Connect Founders and Investors

Connection remains at the heart of everything we do. This year, TiE Oregon hosted a variety of events designed to bring founders and investors together in meaningful, high-trust settings.

These included:

  • Investor meetings featuring vetted startups to present to investors spurring 1:1 thoughtful questions and feedback

  • Membership Mixers offering our entrepreneur/Associate Members networking opportunities with experienced investors in 1:1 conversations

  • Screenings invite a group of vetted startups to present for candid feedback and insights with a group of our Charter Members

Each event was intentionally designed to lower barriers, spark conversations, and help founders build relationships that extend well beyond a single pitch or meeting.

Showcasing Oregon Innovation: Pitch Events Across the State

TiE Oregon continued to elevate founders statewide through our regional pitch competitions, ensuring entrepreneurs from across Oregon had access to visibility, feedback, and capital.

In 2025, we hosted pitch events including:

  • Westside Pitchfeaturing Washington County startups and founders

  • Columbia River Pitchfeaturing Multnomah County and crossing state lines to include Clark County, Washington startups and founders

  • Collegiate Startup Challengefeaturing startups and founders who are current students, alumni and/or faculty of an Oregon or SW Washington University

These competitions showcased startups from urban and rural communities alike, reinforcing our belief that great companies can be built anywhere — especially when supported by a connected investor ecosystem.

Supporting the Investors Who Power the Ecosystem

Strong ecosystems require informed, engaged investors. This year, TiE Oregon expanded its investor support and education offerings, helping both new and experienced angels sharpen their skills and invest with confidence.

Key initiatives included:

  • Angel investor trainings covering due diligence, deal structures, and portfolio strategy

  • Special Interest Groups (SIGs) focused on emerging themes — including AI, data, and advanced technologies

  • Curated founder discussions at Investor Meetings that allowed investors to go deeper into specific industries and business models

By investing in our Charter Members, we’re strengthening the entire capital pipeline for founders across Oregon.

Looking Ahead

As we move into the coming year, our focus remains clear:

  • Deploy more capital into promising founders

  • Expand access to investors statewide

  • Deepen industry-focused conversations

  • Strengthen the relationships that make this community thrive

To our Charter Members, founders, partners, mentors, and volunteers — thank you for being part of this work. Your engagement is what turns intention into impact.

Here’s to another year of building, investing, and growing together.
